Hello there, I'm Mimi, welcome to my study blog, my safe space to talk about my academic journey.

I decided to start this blog to help me with motivation, for a time now i've not felt quite satisfied with my academic life, my study time and constancy wasn't quite good, my capacity to remember what i studied too, I also had a huge problem with procastination, I've been living with that ever since high school, but finally, I decided I was done with it, I want more of and for myself, I know I have a lot of potential and I'm tired of wasting it on social media and doomscrolling.

That's how I decided to change my life completely this semester, I'll learn to work hard and get past my difficulties to become the person and the student I always knew I could be, I'll bury my lazy and procrastinating past self once for all and then I'll rise as someone completely new.

I hope you guys enjoy walking with me through this road.

Now that I've introduced myself and told a little about my story, I'll tell you my planning to achieve my goals:

1- The first step I took was organization this is a very important part of becoming someone better, although it'll only be really effective if you how to do it realistically and precisely, and how do you do that?

- Know yourself, you have to know how you work, what time feels easier for you to focus, what days do you feel less motivaded, what inspires you to keep focused, all those things make a huge difference when planning a schedule that'll actually work.

- Do not exaggerate, let's be real, you can't possibly keep up with a thousand of activities a day, you'll tire yourself out in no time, be realistic when building a study and daily plan, start slow and advance without rush, respecting your limits

- Apps are a lot of help, from helping you plan your week, your daily tasks, helping you with your study to keeping you focused. Some of them that have been working for me are Focustown and Lofi.town for focus, and Knowunity for studying and even digitalizing my notes.

- Have discipline, skipping one day it's okay, skipping two becomes a bad habit, don't let your brain get used to it, you'll be just making it harder for yourself.

- Don't make excuses, just start, just do it, count to ten and go do what you have to do, start it for five minutes at first, after that your brain will focus and you'll be able to continue.

- Watch youtube videos, movies or tv shows that inspire you, for me it's Legally Blonde, Gilmore Girls, Pretty little liars, what about you?

- Music is important too, find a playlist to study, brown noise, instrumental or classic music are good options, a playlist for motivation to hear throughout the day is also nice.

- Bonus tip, coffee is the biggest friend of those who have problems with feeling sleepy in the morning, it particularly helps me a whole lot, but careful, drinking coffee after 4PM might mess up your sleep and that's not reccomended, you need to sleep well to have a good studying session, or else you won't be able to reatain information.

That'll be it for now, next time I'll approach the topic: How to organize smarter.

See ya!

Hello there, I'm back as promised, last time we talked about the first steps for organization, today we'll talk about smart organization.

2- The human brain is a fantastic thing, capable of so much greatness, but also, it can become our biggest enemy. You see, our brain is programmed to avoid spending as much energy as it can, it's an heritage from the primitive times, studying and being productive means you'll spend energy on it and your brain doesn't want that, so it'll try to sabbotage you into not doing your tasks, so then your energy will be preserved, you need to learn how to hack your own brain.

- Create a ritual pre-study, organize your desk, refill your water bottle, tie up your hair with a special hairclip you use only when it's time to be focused, make yourself your favorite drink, this preparation will help your brain understand it's time to get on focus mode.

- Set your study time to a moment you know you won't be able to bail, for me that's in the morning, right after drinking my ritualistic coffee, but for you it might be at night or in the afternoon, you should go with what works best for you.

- Make sure you have everything you need at hand so you don't have to repeatedly get up to go catch something you need cause it'll mess up your focus.

- Find out your favorite study method, pomodoro, active recall, notes, reading out loud, feynman method, explore and see what happens.

- If helps you to stay motivated, share your progress, on social media, to a friend, blog about it, again, it's kinda personal, find what fits you most.

- Take breaks, burning yourself out won't do any good, your brain will associate studying with something bad and it'll become harder for you to study for long periods and that's certainly not what you want, five, ten, fifteen minutes of break will help your brain to fresh up, do not use this time to watch tiktoks or doomscroll, instead, drink some water, go to the bathroom if you need, take a walk around the house or stretch.

- Reward yourself, positive reinforcement works wonders, it helps your brain associate studying/working with good sensations and experiences, at some point you might even become excited to do it.

- Do not negotiate with your brain on doing your tasks, they're non negotiable, you must do it, when you allow yourself to negotiate, postpone, procrastinate, you're only sabotaging yourself and your progress, don't do it, if you have to do something now, do it, don't open up space to think too much, to talk yourself out of it, as I mentioned before, take a deep breath, count to ten and start. Once you started you'll feel more inclined to finish.

- Bonus tip: Having a planner, on paper or digital is really helpful, having your schedule written might help you stay compromised to it, give it a try.

I guess this will be it for today guys, stay tuned for more updates! Bye now, see ya!
